A Country B&B? Nope! I'm at my Mum's Place!
How beautiful is this room?! And how clever is my Mum?! Over the last couple of weekends she has transformed the now guest room in her house from this....
To this...
It's just so pretty! Mum was after a country guest room and I think she got it! Previously it was a black, white and purple pearlescent suede disco room (talk about themes - I promise it was cool when we did it!). Here's the purple - Nice huh?!!!
Mum painted the main walls in Dulux Oyster Linen and then the timber panelling in Dulux Beige Royal. I think most people would be terrified to paint over timber but I think it makes the timber clad ceiling and the exposed beams much more of a feature...
Geoff moved the lights so that we had pendant lights over the bedsides. He also added a nice hole in the wall after falling off this ladder - oh dear! But he did get a nice new ladder to work with!
Mum painted her old bed and bedsides the same colour as the timber panelling
And a lovely new carpet was laid - we found a remnants piece at the local carpet shop so got it for a fabulous price!
The doona cover was on special at Spotlight - I think it was $40 including the fitted sheet. Bargain! We found this first and worked the whole room around it. The lights were already there for the Disco scheme but originally from Ikea.
Mum picked up the 2 frames from Hot Dollar and we framed 2 pieces of fabric - one is an old dress mum had, and the other is a teatowel from Target. The cream jug was in the bargain section at Ikea! The big mirror was as Ebay buy, the 3 frames Mum found around the house and painted white. The cushion is covered in the fabric from the old dress - the same as what's framed on the wall. New curtains from Ikea and curtain pole from Spotlight.
Mum has loads of old books which I just love!
And yes, we styled the room for the photos! We really are over the top. But we both love it!
Mum picked the flowers from her garden - so pretty!
So the big splurge for this room was the carpet, but from the photos you can see that it really needed replacing! Otherwise it was a couple of cans of paint, new curtains and a rod, a doona cover, a mirror from Ebay and a couple of frames. Oh and a new ladder for Geoff! All the furniture and accessories we pinched from other areas of the house, and painted or just used as is.
I hope you like it as much as we do!
