My Bedroom Makeover

So I have finished my bedroom for the time being!
(Still looking for some new lamps and nice handles for my bedsides).
So I hope you like these piccies...

The bedsides are 2nd hand - they were oak coloured and I painted them white. Just need sanding back a little more and some new handles. The screen was my splurge which acts as a headboard...I have been thinking about buying a new bed for ages so this was a much cheaper way to go and I love the look!!

The new paint colours are:
Main wall colour - Taubmans "Pebble Bay"
Feature wall colour - Taubmans "Spun Sugar"
Trims etc. - Dulux "Antique White USA"

The look when we get home and it's dark! Love it!

Here is the room before EEEK! You can see the old bedsides and the new ones half done!

My top tips for a beautiful bedroom at home are:

1. Euro Pillows! (The big square ones at the back). As well as making every bed look like a hotel bed, they are great for reading.

2. Choose lovely bedlinen and you don't need all the scatter cushions. (Mine I pinched from the lounge room for the photos - I usually have none!). I love my sheets and they go with either my charocal or white bedding (we always have 2 doonas in winter so I get to use both!). Just keep it simple and easy to maintain.

3. You don't have to spend a fortune to have a beautiful bedroom. My sheets were on clearance from Bed, Bath and Table (They are Morgan and Finch my favourite!). The white doona cover & pillowcases was $13 for the set from K-Mart, and my other white set was $30 from DJ's. Just ALWAYS check the clearance racks!!! The bedsides were $30 each and just needed a lick of paint. Even the lamps don't look so bad anymore!

4. Paint is absolutely my favourite thing for a quick and cheap makeover. Don't be scared to be bold with colour, but ALWAYS get sample pots! And remember white accents freshen everything up!

  1. Hey Lucy :)
What are your suggestions for buying pillows? Because in the past I've always bought them on the cheap (talking, euros & regular sleeping pillows here), but they keep going super flat, and uncomfortable.
Any advice re: brands etc would be much appreciated!
Your room looks lovely by the way :)

  2. Hi Emma,

Unfortunately I am the same as you! I always buy the cheap pillows! But I would try somewhere like MyHouse I know their doona's are amazing, and my Euro's are feather so are always going to be lovely especially as they go down a little :)
